PROJECT PLANNING
Hotel Corridor Door Refinishing: Plan the Work by Zone
A corridor refresh involves more than a door count. For operating hotels, a practical plan connects each door group to room access, guest circulation, housekeeping and a clear handover. Use this guide to prepare a phased finish scope before setting a work date.
Create a Door Schedule That Matches Operations
List floor, corridor zone, door reference, dimensions, existing finish and observed damage. Separate guestroom doors, back-of-house doors, frames and other panels instead of combining them into one quantity. Mark hardware, signage, vision panels and identification labels that must be protected or reviewed. Do not assume every visually similar door has the same construction or condition.
Agree on Daily Release and Handover
Confirm who releases each work area and who accepts it afterward. Align the sequence with occupancy, room moves, housekeeping and planned deliveries. Set a daily stop point that leaves the property with a usable, clearly identified area. Installation windows depend on preparation and product requirements; avoid promising a fixed number of doors per day before the conditions are reviewed.
Resolve Guest Routes and Trade Boundaries
Review temporary protection, material staging, noise-sensitive periods and guest communication with the property team. Any requirements affecting access, egress or door operation need review by the responsible professionals. Decorative film does not authorize changes to hinges, latching, clearances, closers or fire-door assemblies. Identify hardware and door-system work separately from finish installation.
Approve One Representative Detail First
Select a representative door and frame condition for the sample review. Assess finish direction, edge termination, seams, hardware boundaries and appearance under corridor lighting. Record the accepted pattern and preparation scope, then use that record for the remaining zones. Keep a simple completion and punch-list log so later crews can identify what has been approved and what remains open.
Prepare Your Review Package
Start with a floor plan, door schedule, occupancy constraints, proposed zones, daily release contact and target completion date. Use the occupied-property guide for wider coordination; this door-specific plan should become part of that overall sequence.
