Tile And Concrete: Prepare A Surface Review, Not A Shortcut

Existing tile or concrete needs a product-specific review. Texture, joints, moisture and the condition of the assembly affect the proposed finish system.

Show What Is Actually There

Provide photos that show texture and joints, not only a distant room view. Record cracks, loose pieces, damp areas and previous coatings. Ask the project team whether repair, smoothing, sealing or a separate panel substrate is appropriate for the selected product.

Test The Proposed Assembly

Confirm preparation and adhesion through the manufacturer’s instructions and a representative test. Do not generalize one contractor’s warranty exclusion into a rule for every material. Include any additional substrate work in quantities, cost and responsibility before comparing bids.

Before Your Project Review

  • Photograph joints, texture, cracks and damp areas.
  • Specify the intended film and preparation system.
  • Include a representative adhesion review.
