Wall Panels And Slats: Count The Edges, Not Just The Area

A flat wall panel and a field of narrow slats require different detailing. Start with the geometry before estimating material or labor.

Measure Faces, Returns And Gaps

Record the visible face, side returns, recesses and access between each member. Decide which surfaces need coverage and whether components must be removed. Numerous narrow edges can add handling and cutting work even when the total exposed area appears modest.

Approve A Representative Detail

Ask for a mockup that includes a corner and a recess rather than only a flat sample. Confirm grain alignment, termination points and the manufacturer’s suitability for the profile. Preserve required access to removable panels, equipment and building components.

Before Your Project Review

  • Provide a dimensioned profile and close-up photos.
  • Count exposed edges and repeated members.
  • Review a corner-and-recess mockup.
